Spring to Life

Below the ground, in winter,
Life is still progressing.
Although plants look dead and gone
Their cycle is just recessing.

The life force has not left them
It's just taking a well-earned rest,
Gathering rejuvenating strength
So in summer it will look its best.

In winter we make summer plans -
What we'll do or where we'll go,
Some 'Snow Birds' head south for winter
In order to avoid the snow.

For some, it's a hibernating time,
To find some good books to read,
Watch movies, sort out photographs,
Or fulfill some special need.

We tend to stay inside more
As the daylight hours are short,
Staying close to family and friends,
It depends on what we were taught.

Then as spring comes, once again,
And new life starts to show,
We plant new seeds, ideas, and plans
And wait for them to grow.

Out with the old, in with the new,
It's time to do spring cleaning,
And no matter what our goals are
Spring gives life a whole new meaning.
